  5. A couple of weeks ago I added a new Exhibition (no. 4) to my Corner.
  6. One of the images is called "Somewhere in time" and depicts two
  7. spaceships flying towards the viewer through some kind of warp field.
  8. I liked this warp field so much that I asked the artist (Cesare
  9. DeRossi) how he had attained it. Today I recieved his answer, and I
  10. think his technique is so cool that I just *have* to tell you all
  11. about it. ;)

  13. First of all you need a PC with PhotoShop. I am sure you could
  14. accomplish the same thing with other programmes and/or platforms, but
  15. this is what he used (and I duplicated) to create the effect.

  17. 1. Create a new image with a black background.
  18. 2. Set the foreground colour to a pastelle blue or green (or
  19. something)
  20. 3. Select Filter/Render/Difference Clouds
  21.    This makes blue/green/whatever clouds on the black background
  22. 4. Select Image/Map/Equalize, to make "harder" contrasts
  23. 5. Select Image/Adjust/Hue/Saturation to adjust the colour to
  24.    your liking. (Make sure to check the "colorize" checkbox!)

  26. Now we have created the basic space environment. You could start out
  27. with a completely different kind of image, but this is a good start.
  28. We still need the warp effect though. Hang on.

  30. 6. Select Filter/Distort/Polar Coordinates Polar to Rectangular
  31. 7. Select Image/Rotate 90 degrees clockwise (cw)
  32. 8. Select Filter/Stylize/Wind left
  33. 9. Select Image/Rotate 90 deg ccw
  34. 10. Select Filter/Distort/Polar Coordinates Rectangular to Polar
